This is a gorgeous south Germany road trip—you’re essentially tracing a Bavaria → Alps → Black Forest → Romantic Rhine/Neckar route. This sequence works well geographically, and with a few smart stay splits, it becomes a very relaxed, scenic journey.

This is our onward journey from center of Germany to Switzerland, stopping in between in the beautiful spa city of Europe - Baden Baden, and driving on one of the most scenic themed roads of the world, the Black Forest high road.
Here we take you through our experience of spending a weekend in a small, charming, quant south Bavarian town of Oberammergau, that is situated in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen region of Germany, also very close to the border with Austria. Given that we visited this place during winters, we also share our experience of beginner level skiing in this area, which also is one of the reason that makes this place popular. After spending sometime on the ski slopes, we explore what else Oberammergau as a town has to offer and get lost in the beautifully painted houses, and saviour some delectable food. For those wishing to also explore a little more in and around the region, there is Zugspitze and Neuschwanstein Castle half an hour drive away which are also one of the most popular and beautiful destinations of Germany.
